Age 80, a native of Bogalusa and longtime resident of Ponchatoula, Orville "O.C." Winburn passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In his early years, O.C. enjoyed playing football and baseball, and later served our country in the United States Navy and National Guard. He retired from Goodyear Tire Company after 28 years of service, and loved spending time outdoors, fishing, and reading the sports section of the newspaper. O.C. leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Barbara Alford Winburn; sons and daughters-in-law, Cliff and Brenda Winburn, Mike and Kay Winburn, and Chris and Jennifer Winburn; grandchildren, April, Kristina, Cory, Hannah, Cade, Jennifer, Steven, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Brianna, and Bethany. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Charles Sharp, and Cheryle and Billy Barber. O.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia Moffett Winburn and Orville "Jiggers" Wert Winburn; and sister, Joy Winburn Lavinghouse. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service which will begin at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Lester May will officiate the service and interment will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa.
