An Army World War II Veteran, he was also a Retired School Bus Driver, Strawberry Farmer, Dairy Farmer, and Auto Body Repairman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula. Father of one daughter, Lynn Wittie, of Ponchatoula, two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Alvin and Linda Guagliardo Wittie, of Hammond and Mark Adrian and Carla Joiner Wittie, of Ponchatoula; three grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Wittie and his wife, Kelly Sellers Wittie, of Hammond, and Christopher Mark and Chelsey Lynn Wittie of Ponchatoula; one great-grandson, Daniel Aaron Wittie of Hammond. Married once to Rae Beyl Wittie of Hammond. Preceded in death by parents Frank Alvin and Margaret Christy Howes Wittie; and one brother, Alvin Junior "June" Wittie. Much Thanks and Appreciation from the family to Key Home Health, Live Oak Village, and The Richard Murphy Hospice House, all of Hammond, for their untiring dedication of care to him and support to the family in this time of need. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family wishes donations to be made in his honor to Richard Murphy Hospice House 16013 Halbert Lane, Hammond, LA 70403.
