George Monroe Wylie, a life-long resident of Hammond, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Golden Age Nursing Home, Denham Springs. He was born March 20, 1929, in Tylertown, Miss., and was a truck driver. He is survived by his children, Wynne Ann Wylie McMorris, Denham Springs, George Whitaker Wylie, Hammond, Marilyn Wylie McKnight and spouse Kevin McKnight, Folsom, William Lawton Wylie and spouse Lynette Garaudy Wylie, Ponchatoula, and George M. Wylie Jr., Colorado; six grandchildren, Marilyn Louise McMorris, Erin McMorris Dry and spouse Michael Dry, Kevin Francis McKnight Jr., Nicholas William Wylie, Colin Francis Wylie, and Brandon Wylie; and brother, Dr. Jerome Wylie. Mr. Wylie was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Mitchell Wylie; parents, William Jerome and Lily Whitaker Wylie; and son-in-law, Russell McMorris. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, on Saturday, April 12, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
