Bill was a dental technician for dentists in southern Louisiana and a member of the Certified Dental Technician Association. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served his country in the Korean conflict. Bill is survived by his wife, Augusta Stewart Yanda of Hammond; daughter, Ashley Denise Yanda of Livingston; two grandchildren, Brooke and Brandon; stepchildren, Lee and Lawrence Yarborough and Gisele Cali; step- grandchildren, Jude and Malia Cali, Landon and Lee Yarborough. He is also survived by six siblings, Edward and Jerry Yanda, Joe, Jim and Robert Voltenburg, and Elizabeth Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Yanda; and a brother, Steve Yanda. A memorial service conducted by Bishop Wally Landry will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 La. 190 West, Hammond. There will be a gathering held immediately following the service in the reception area of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of William "Bill" Yanda to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311. ***************************************************************************
