A resident of Kentwood for about 20 years and of Baton Rouge for the past 10 years; a veteran of World War 2, having served for 2 years in the Signal Corps, with 8 months in Africa. Funeral services were held Friday, March 24 from the home of Mrs. Susie Y. Bailey in Kentwood. Interment was in Woodlawn cemetery, with McKneely Funeral Home in charge. He is survived by his father; three brothers, J. O., J. N. and H. A. Yarbrough, all of Baton Rouge; five sisters, Mrs. Susie Y. Bailey of Kentwood, and Mrs. Fred Carney, Mrs. L. L. He was born in Kentwood to Lemuel and Mattie Yarbrough. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in New Orleans and spent her formative years in Ponchatoula prior to her marriage to James Yarbrough, a career member of the U.S. Army. She spent much of her life supporting her husband's career and resided with him at a number of military bases both in the U.S. and abroad. Following her husband's retirement from the military, the two resided in Texas for many years before returning to Ponchatoula several years ago. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponchatoula and an active member of church related organizations in the communities where she resided. In addition to her husband of 61 years, James Yarbrough, she is survived by her four daughters, Mrs. Sharon Suggs of Hammond, Mrs. Susan Yates of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. Jan Chamberlin of Willow Park, Texas, and Mrs. Kim Dilulio of Denver; son, Jimmy Yarbrough of Corpus Christi, Texas; mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Vicknair Keller of Ponchatoula; brother and sister-in-law, Elwood and Virginia Keller of Ponchatoula; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
