BERNARD Age 48, a lifelong resident of Albany and a member of First Baptist Church, Debbie was known for her fun-loving and humble life. After a long hard battle with cancer, she was surrounded by family members as she passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008. For many years Debbie devoted herself to managing Leašs Grocery Store, north of Albany. She is survived by her husband, Curtiss Wayne Yawn of Albany and was treasured by her surviving mother, Deloris Bernard of Albany; a sister, Diana Riddle and husband, Steve of Hammond. Debbie was extremely cherished and cared for by her special sister and brother-in-law, Betty Joe and Gary Lea of Albany. She is also survived by 2 brothers, George Bernard of Albany along with Don Bernard and his wife, Janice of Independence. Debbie deeply adored her nieces and nephews. They are nieces, Krystal Pauli and Allison Bernard; nephews, George Bernard, Jr., Jason Bernard, Arthur Ellis Bernard, III, Matthew Lea, Brandon Riddle, Christopher Riddle, Scott Bernard, Hunter Bernard and Joshua Bernard. Great nieces are Reagan, Grace, Katie, Kacie, Amanda, Samantha and Madelyn and great nephews are Dylan, Wil and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Ellis Bernard, Sr. and her brother, Arthur Ellis Bernard, Jr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond on Tuesday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 7:30 a.m. Rev. Dan Munson will conduct the religious services and interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Albany. The family would like to say a special "thank you" to North Oaks Hospice, especially to Tom; and, to the many extended family members and friends who were extremely supportive during her illness.
