ZAHN, CLARENCE ELLIS, SR. 
A resident of Loranger, he died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at his home. He
was 70, born Tuesday, Aug. 6, 1935, in New Orleans, and was a longtime
resident of Robert. He was a retired principal of Champ Cooper School,
where he served as a teacher, principal and basketball coach for 33 years
and had the largest PTA and booster clubs in the state. He served as a
volunteer girls basketball coach at Independence High School for four
years. He is survived by his wife, Robin Stafford Zahn of Loranger; five
sons, Clarence Zahn Jr. and wife Robin and Randy Zahn and wife Micki, all
of Hammond, Greg Zahn and wife Francine of Oklahoma, Kenneth Zahn and wife
Gina of Hammond, and David Zahn and wife Cindy of Mandeville; first wife,
Gladys Gracianette Zahn of Hammond; two stepsons, Ricky Davis and wife
Maggie of Hammond and Raymond Davis of Loranger; brother, Earl B. Zahn of
New Orleans; six grandsons, 15 granddaughters and numerous nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernhardt Earl Zahn and
Norma Varnado Zahn. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son
Funeral Home, Hammond, on Friday, Dec. 16, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on
Saturday from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Interment in Rose Memorial
Park Cemetery, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital, 5324 N. Beltline Road, Suite C206,
