 Somerset Cemetery, Somerset Plantation, Tensas Parish, Louisiana
 Located on US Hwy 65; Recorded & Submitted: Edith Ziegler


 Three monuments to the Perkins Family were moved to this 
 cemetery from the middle of a cotton field near the Mississippi
 River.
                      
              In memory of John Perkins, Senior                        
               original owner and Developer of
                     Somerset Plantation
                   Tensas Parish, Louisiana
                      Born May 17, 1781
                    Died November 30, 1866
       He lived the Life of a Gentleman of the Old South 
            and One Devoted to the Christian Faith 

                This monument was erected in 
                  Affectionate rememberance 
                             of
                     Mrs Zelphia Perkins
                       by her stepsons
                        John & William
                            1813
                       
                         In Memory of
                       William Perkins
                 born Natchez, April 26, 1821
            lost at sea on the Artic returning from 
                    Europe Sept 22, 1854 
               Erected by his bereaved Father
                Blocks of pure marble in the
             midst of flowers best represent him
