A grave side service was held on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana. Mr. Berwick was born to Ada and Samuel Berwick on December 6, 1921 in Cameron, Louisiana. Mr. Berwick entered the Army as 2nd Lt. Infantry in 1942. During World War II he served in the European Theater of Operations as a Captain with the 106th Infantry Division, and was discharged as a Major from the Army in 1946. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the French Croix de Guerre, and the European Theatre Operations ribbon with three battle stars for his service during the War. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margery Allen Berwick; a son Lee Berwick, Jr.; and a brother Ellis Berwick. He is survived by his wife Betty Baker Parker of Vinton, Louisiana; his daughter Kathryn of St. Joseph; three step-daughters, one sister Willie Mae Hatfield of Los Angeles, California; one brother Archie Berwick of Johnson Bayou, and grandchildren.
