All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Effie Cassels Curington Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Cassels Curington, age 79, of St. Joseph and formerly of Rosefield, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23 at the Maryland Baptist Church in St. Joseph with the Reverends Kelly Clark, Ken Gilmore and Ron Ledford officiating. Interment was at Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Mrs. Curington died Monday, August 21 at The Heritage Manor Health and Rehabil- itation Center in Ferriday. She was born on June 26, 1921 in Rosefield, Louisiana to the union of the late John F. and Sarah Margaret Reeves Cassels. She was a lifelong resident of Rosefield until 1991 when she moved to St. Joseph and became a member of Maryland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marion "Francis" "M.F." Curington; her parents; three sisters. Lula Cassels, Lola Watson and Lois Price; and three brothers, Robert F. Cassels, Oliver Cassels and Johnny Cassels. Mrs. Curington is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and R. V. Mize of Vidalia; Lou and Roger Moore of Ferriday; two sons and daughters-in-law. Marion F. and Barbara Curington of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Melvin LaDelle "Dale" and Martha Curington of St. Joseph; and one foster son and his wife, Warren and Petty Wise of Summerville; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grand-children; one sister-in-law, Cleora Cassel of Rosefield and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. Grandsons served the family as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Eric Adams and Ronnie Boles.
