All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Tensas Gazette of November 17, 1999 Funeral services were held for Mr. Woodford Grady Humphries, age 80, on Friday November 12, 1999, at the First Baptist Church of Newellton at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Hugh Boswell and the Reverend J. Fulton McGraw officiated. Burial followed in the Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah. Mr. Humphries died Wednesday, November 10, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lawson, Arkansas, and has lived in Tensas Parish since 1951. He was a retired sawyer, a member of the Church of Christ, and a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys McGee Humphries of Newellton, two sons, Jimmy Ray Humphries of Longview, Texas, Grady Humphries of Port Gibson, Mississippi, two daughters, Linda Sanders of Carthage, Mississippi, Sylvia Humphries of Newellton, Louisiana, three step-daughters, Mary Buckels of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Marsha Wyatt of Newellton and Brenda Fussell of Newellton, Louisiana. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandhildren, and eight step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Frank Graves, Joe Gossett, Walter Wyatt, Curtis Temple, James Bamburg, and Parnell Barfield.
