Funeral services were held for Mr. Ivan Slaughter April 2, in
Newellton at the First United Pentecostal Church.
Interment followed in Legion Memorial Cemetery, Newellton.
Mr. Slaughter died March 30, 2001, in the Franklin Medical 
Center in Winnsboro after a short illness.
He had been a resident of Newellton for 78 years.
His survivors include three sons:Marshall L. Slaughter,
Robert Ivan Slaughter, Jr. of Newellton; Lindell Ray
Slaughter of Elmendorf, Texas; seven daughters, Clarece
Caughlin, Quitman, Louisiana;Lorene Elizabeth Wright, Ball, Louisiana;
Ethel Yvonne Collinsworth, Lucky, Louisiana; Virginia Ruth Stevens,
Bloomington, Indiana; Peggy Sue Arnold, Newellton; Carol Ann
Burns, Waller, Texas; Pamela Dorene Jiles, Jonesboro, Louisiana;
and one sister Pearl Ashley, Jonesboro, Louisiana.
Mr. Slaughter is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 37 great 
grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
