Adele Newell Starr

     Funeral services for Adele Newell Starr, 93 were held on 
September 6, 2001 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Interment  
followed at Forest Hills.

     Mrs. Starr died September 3, 2001 on Signal Mountain.  
She was born in Tensas Parish in 1908.

     Mrs. Starr was the daughter of Ross Wade Newell and 
Irene McMillan Newell of Lake Place Plantation, Newellton.  
She was preced in death by her husband of 59 years; three 
sisters, Mary Kirk Burnside, Irene Shields, and Roslyn Watson.

     She is survived by a sister, Naomi Kelly of Fort Worth, 
Texas; three children, Joan Starr Lindop of Prospect, Kentucky, 
Hal Starr, Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Kirk Starr of 
Tacoma, Washington; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
