All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ================================================== FIRST ASSEMBLY OF GOD ORGANIZED AT BOURG IN 1924 Location in 2007 - 1403 Prospect Blvd., Houma, LA The Houma Daily Courier and The Terrebonne Press Houma, LA, Oct. 8, 1972, Sunday, Section E ON May 9, 1924, in Bourg, La., the Assemblies of God organized their first church in this community of Terrebonne Parish. The Rev. W.L. Kinsey served the congregation as first pastor. The church moved to the community of Bayou Blue soon after becoming established. Charter membership was 17. The first evangelist for the congregation was the Rev. Edgar Bethany, who now resides in Columbus, Ga. There have been 14 pastors who have served the congregation since its origin. The present pastor, Rev. T.W. Comardelle, has served the present congregation for the past nine years. From the Chartered membership and former pastors, there have been three other Assemblies of God churches organized: the First Assembly of God, Houma, the First Assembly of God, Thibodaux, and the Raceland Assembly of God Church.
