The church is located on Grand Caillou Highway about two miles outside of the Houma City limits. The property was donated to the Jerusalem Baptist Church by George Washington Cage and Thomas Mann Cage. The property is one acre square. The Jerusalem Baptist Church is a religious corporation domiciled in Terrebonne Parish and is a branch of the African Baptist Church of the state of Louisiana created for the furtherance of religion and morality. During the church's 100 year history it has had six pastors: Rev. Davenport, Rev. Hudson Thomas, Rev. T.L. Welch, Rev. T.J. Ellis, Rev. Saul Thomas and its present pastor, Rev. I.S. Holmes. The Jerusalem Baptist Church is marching forward. We are working while it is day for we know the night cometh when no man can work. Someday we will get our final notice to come home and receive our reward.
