The Reverend Father Felix Miller was appointed pastor of St. Eloi in July 1927 at which time he closed the former Mission at Dulac and opened a Mission at Grand Caillou, Holy Family, and another at Ashland under the title of St. Margaret. The new church at Grand Caillou was completed in 1928 and dedicated on July 4th of the same year by the Most Reverend John W. Shaw. To serve the needs of the people of such a vast area Father Miller was given permission, rare in those days, to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass three times each Sunday which he zealously did for many years often with great disregard for his own personal health. At the present the Parish of Holy Family numbers about 600 Catholic families and has attached to it one Mission, under the patronage of the Cure D'Ars, St. John Marie Vianney. Lay participation in Church affairs has always been evident due to the deep faith of the people of this area. The Parish boasts of a very lively and active Ladies Altar Society, a newly revitalized Holy Name Society, the assistance of two Sisters of the Missionary Order of St. Dominic who help direct religious education and visitation and care of the sick. The Parish is growing annually and will doubtless continue to do so. It is well aware of its heritage and is currently striving to answer the needs of the community it serves
