BRIDGET HAS BEGINNING AS MISSION St. Bridget Catholic Church was established as a mission by Archbishop Blank on a tract of land donated by E.W. Blake. The mission was later erected as a parish in 1911, with Rev. J.M. Evano named as St. Bridget's first pastor. St. Bridget was blessed as a parish church on May 18, 1912, by Bishop Laval, who also administered the sacrament of Confirmation at that time. Among the achievements made by Fr. Evano in the church parish of St. Bridget was the establishment of St. Louis Chapel for the residents of Bayou Blue. Successors of Rev. Evano as pastor of St. Bridget Catholic Church are Rev. J.W. A. Janssan, Rev. Lawrence, Rev. Magnus Roth, Rev. Joe Bentz, Rev. Raphael Labit and Rev. Chmielewski.
