Surviving are his widow, the former Virginia Adam; one son, Vaughn Lirette of Baytown, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. F. E. Baker of Gonzales, Louisiana, and his mother, Mrs. Leo Lirette. Funeral services will be held at the St Francis de Sales church April 17 at 9 am, with interment following in the St. Francis de Sales cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the Chauvin Funeral home. ========================== GEORGIANNA SUTHON Miss Georgianna Suthon, 90 years old, died last night at 10 pm at her residence on East Main Street. For thirty-one years, the deceased served as a missionary to Japan. Born in Assumption Parish, August 31, 1850, she was the daughter of Lucius Suthon, Sr., of London, England and of Manette L. Blanchard, of Assumption Parish. In her young womanhood, she went from St. Paul's Episcopal church in New Orleans to do mission work in Japan. She became a mistress of the Japanese language and when she went to Amori in northern Japan, she was the only white person there. She later worked in Kyoto in southern Japan, where she served under Bishop Henry St. George Tucker, of the American Episcopal church, who is now presiding bishop of the Episcopal church in America. She was a life member of the American Red Cross and a life member of the Japaness Red Cross. Her experience in the mission world was remarkable. Her trips to and from Japan took her to the Holy Land, into the the Balkans and to many other countries of Europe. She is highly honored at the headquarters of the Episcopal church here in America because of her outstanding work in Japan. Funeral services were held at the St. John Episcopal church in Thibodaux, at 5 pm today, April 16, with interment following in the St. John cemetery. Surviving is one sister, Miss Fannie Suthon. Funeral arrangements were by the Chauvin Funeral Home. ========================== ==========================
