Daigle Fanny Suthon Miss Fanny Suthon, aged member of an old Terrebonne family, died suddenly in New Orleans, Sunday, April 13th. Miss Suthon is survived by two nephews, Walter J. Suthon and Archie M. Suthon, both of New Orleans. She was interred Monday at 4:00 pm in Thibodaux, with Episcopal church rites. It will be recalled that Miss Suthon, while in Houma, lived in the family home in the 900 block of E. Main St. This beautiful residence was destroyed by fire in 1930, however, Miss Suthon continued to live on the grounds in one of the smaller buildings with her sister, Georgine, who died a few years ago. Miss Suthon moved to a boarding home in New Orleans in 1945. Miss Fanny Suthon was the daughter of Lucius Suthon, sr., who came to this country from England, and Mannet Blanchard of LaFourche parish. She was born in St. Landry parish April 30, 1855 and would have been 92 years of age this month. Friends of the family compared Miss Fanny's untiring devotion to the care of her family, particularly her simi-invalid mother to that of her sister's Georgie, who served as an Episcopalian missionary to Japan for 30 years. Miss Georgine came to Houma to live with her sister after her retirement from missionary service. The Suthon family is remembered for its part in Houma's development and in civic affairs of the p__t, L. F. Suthon Jr., owned Greenwood plantation and all of what is now Woodlawn and the Suthon addition. One street in the city bears the family name. Lucius F. Suthon, the father, was a planter of Lafourche and St. Landry parishes. He was also connected with shipping interest in New Orleans. Many from here were among those who mourned the graveside of this grand old lady of Houma, whose intellect commanded respect and whose devotion and courage won the hearts of those whose lives were enriched by her graciousness. ================================================================================ Houma Newspaper, Apr il 25, 1947, Friday Submitted by Cynthia F.
