Daigle J. A. Bourg Funeral services for J. A. "Louby" Bourg, former Houma resident who died in New Orleans Tuesday, August 29, were conducted at St. Francis de Sales cemetery. A native of Terrebonne parish and one time popular druggist here, Mr. Bourg had resided in New Orleans for several years. He was 83 years of age. Survivors are his widow, the former Catherine Bascle, two sons, William J. and John A. of New Orleans, three daughters, Mrs. Emmett Bragg of Jacksonville, Fla, Mrs. Donald Percy, of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. O.T. McGill of Norfolk, and four grandchildren. He was the brother of the late F. X. Bourg, former sheriff of Terrebonne; Mrs. Minnie Daigle of Thibodaux; and an uncle of Bobby and Floyd Bourg, Misses Gladys and Bess Bourg of Houma, and Miss Tom Bourg of Baton Rouge. Also Misses May and Ruth Bourg of Houma. =========================== Houma Courier, Sept. 1, 1950, Friday Submitted by Cynthia F. Daigle Houston DeHart Funeral services for Houston J. DeHart, 27, who was fatally burned on his boat in the Bayou Dularge area at approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, August 24, were conducted from the residence to St. Andrew Episcopal mission, Theriot, at 4 p.m. August 26. Interment was in Magnolia cemetery with Chauvin Funeral Home in charge. DeHart died in Veterans hospital, New Orleans, where he was taken immediately after the accident. His brother, Charles, who was also critically burned at the same time, now in Charity hospital, is reported to be out of danger. The DeHart boat, which was stuck on a shell reef, caught fire while Charles, in another boat, was attempting to dodge it. Charles was burned while trying to save his brother. Survivors are the mother, Mrs. Adam DeHart; 11 brothers, Herbert, Cyrus, Edmund, Eugis, Charles, Thomas, Floyd, Easton, Lee, Wilfred and Willard, all of Theriot, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Lovell of Theriot and Mrs. Estelle Voisin of Houma. ============================================================================= Houma Courier, Sept. 8, 1950 Submitted by Cynthia F. Daigle Mrs. Gustave Pontiff, 77, nee Zulima Savoie, died at 5 p.m. September 3 in a New Orleans hospital. Funeral services were conducted at the Terrebonne Funeral home at 4 p.m. September 4 with interment in the Matherne Cemetery at Bayou Blue. Survivors were two daughters, Mrs. Charlie Neal and Mrs. C. Daigle Sylvia Brunet Miss Sylvia Brunet, 22, of 904 Saadi Street, died at 4:45 p.m. September 8 in Ellender Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted from Chauvin Funeral home with religious services at 9 a.m. September 11 in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary church, Daigleville. Interment was in Bisland Cemetery at Bourg. Survivors are her mother, Mrs. Camille Brunet, two brothers, Paul and Wilfred of Houma; three sisters, Mrs. Cyrus Neal and Mrs. Gilbert Theriot, of Pointe-au- Chenes and Mrs. Bruce Bonvillain of Houma. =========================== Houma Courier, Sept. 15, 1950, Friday Submitted by Cynthia F. Daigle Frances Dagate Mrs. Vincent Degate, nee Frances Guerroro, aged 82 years, died suddenly at her home on 1128 Barrow Street at 5:15 p.m. September 7. Although Mrs. Degate had been slightly ill for some time, her death came as a shock to her family and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from Chauvin Funeral Home with a requiem mass at 9 am September 9, in St. Francis de Sales church and interment in St. Francis de Sales cemetery. She is survived by her husband Vincent Degate, three sons, Tony, Nina and Lawrence, three daughters, Mrs. Sam Larussa, Mrs. Sam Catanese, Mrs. Benny Guidry, all of Houma, 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. =========================== Houma Courier, Sept. 15, 1950, Friday Submitted by Cynthia F. Funeral services were conducted from Chauvin Funeral home with religious services in St. Ann church, Bourg, and interment in St. Ann cemetery, at _ p.m., September 10. He is survived by his widow, Maxillia Aucoin, 3 sons, Howard of Bourg, Duffy of Houma, Norvan of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Mrs. Max Gialonie, Mrs. J. L. Melton, aged 75, died at 11:30 a.m. September 9 at his home, 302 Morgan Street. The body was shipped by Chauvin Funeral Home in Amite, La., for funeral services and interment at Mount Pelier, La.
