WRIGHT, JR. William Wright, Jr., of 305 East Park Avenue, member of a prominent Terrebonne family, died at Ellender Hospital at 6:30 a.m. Monday, December 8. He was 84 years of age. Son of the later William Wright and Sarah Fields, Mr. Wright was born on Concord Plantation on Bayou Black, one of a family of five children. He was widely known throughout the parish having engaged in various business enterprises in the community which contributed greatly to the commercial life and prosperity of early Houma. Always an admirer of horses, he was among the first operators of a livery stable back in the days when horse and buggy transportation was a luxurious novelty in the Bayou country. He was married to the late Christiana Kohn of New Orleans, who preceded him in death some years ago, and is survived by two sons, J. K. of Houma and W. J. Wright of Artisian, New Mexico; three daughters, Mrs. T. Baker Smith of Houma, Mrs. Ruth Meek of Houston, and Mrs. Laura Kyner of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Ed Thomas of Lafayette and numerous nieces and nephews. The Chauvin Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. =============================
