Daigle 2 Drown as Boats Crash Near Cut Off Peter Savoie Funeral services were conducted Thursday for two Lafitte fisherman who were drowned about midnight Monday when their skiff and a speedboat collided in a bayou near Cut Off. Bodies of the two victims were recovered Tuesday. The two drowned after the skiff in which they were returning home in collided with another boat carrying _____ of drilling crew to a rig. Victims were Peter Savoie, 37, father of five children and Felix Ronquille, 28, father of two. A third man on the skiff, Raymond Hartman, of Westwego leaped from the craft before the crash and swam to shore. Savoie's body was recovered about 7:__ am Tuesday and Ronquille's about 11, about a half mile from the scene of the crash. Deputies Merlin Fayard and Jon Kreger said the crew boat, owned by Edward Fortnier and operated by Warren Maise, crashed into the side of the skiff near the intersection of Bayou Rigolettes and Willow. The speedboat operator ran it ashore to keep it from sinking after the crash. Officers said that both boats were badly damaged. Ronquille was survived by his widow, Verlde Maise Ronquille; sons, Ronald and Blane, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ronquille; a sister and five brothers. Services were conducted in Gretna, with interment at Adams cemetery in Lafitte. Savoie was survived by his widow, Mrs. Hazel Savoie; five children Harvey, Maggie, Johnny, Myra and Glendale; mother, Mrs. Luke Savoie; four sisters and six brothers. ===========================================================================
