Daigle Adam Savoie Funeral services were held for Adam Savoie of Little Bayou Black on Nov 11 at 2 pm from the First National Funeral Home to St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Interment was in St. Bridget's cemetery. Savoie who was 67 died Oct 31 at 4:30 am at Charity Hospital. He is survived by brothers, James and Paul of Houma; sisters, Mrs. Jack Adams of Thibodaux and Mrs. Agnes Maronge of Grand Caillou. ================================ Houma Newspaper, November 8, 1957, Friday Submitted by Cynthia F. Daigle Hattie Sargent Mrs. Hattie Maronge Sargent, 84, died after a long illness November 6 at 5 am at her residence in Dulac. Funeral services were held at ___ am requiem High Mass at the Holy Family Catholic church in Grand Caillou November 7 with the Reverend Marcel Fourcade officiating. Chauvin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Holy Family cemetery in Grand Caillou. Formerly Hattie Maronge, daughter of the late Joe Maronge and the late Eve Stevens, was born on the old Ellsworth plantation in Little Bayou Black. She is survived by her husband, William Sargent of Houston, Texas, two sons, John and T.J. Buquet of Dulac; a sister Mrs. Aubin Buquet of Dulac, and a brother, Henry Maronge, also of Dulac; she is also survived by ___ grandchildren and three great grandchildren. ================================ Houma Newspaper, November 8, 1957, Friday Submitted by Cynthia F. Daigle Berwick Antoine Bernard Funeral services for Berwick Bernard were held from his residence, 2406 West Park Ave to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Nov. 7. Father Andrew Frey officiated at the 11 am Requiem High Mass. Accompanied by a military escort the body was interred at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1. Bernard, PFC, at the time of his discharge and recipient of the Purple Heart was a veteran of WW II having served in the 6th Airborne Division in the European theatre. He was a member of the American Legion and the V. F. W. An employee of Kool Vent Awning Co. for many years, the veteran was the son of Mrs. Alfreda Bernard and the late Ernest Bernard. Two brothers, Ivy and Howard preceded him in death. Having been in Terrebonne General Hospital for more than two weeks, Bernard died November 6 at 12:20 am. He was 41 years of age. Surviving him, besides his mother, the former Alfreda Hebert, are several aunts and uncles, three nieces and two nephews. ============================================================================ Submitted by: Nancy Wright Terrebonne Press of November 19, 1957, page 3 col. 1 ABEL BOREL AYCOCK Funeral services for Abel Borel Aycock were held at 4 p.m. November 17 from his residence on Bayou Dularge route to St. Eloi Catholic church in Theriot. Interment was in the St. Eloi cemetery in Theriot. Mr. Aycock, 81 years of age, died at 2 p.m. November 16 at the Terrebonne General hospital . He is survived by his widow, the former Elmina Guillot; a daughter, Mrs. Vincent Bergeron; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. LOUIS PELLEGRIN Mrs. Louis Pellegrin, 67, the former Eva Luke, died at her residence on Grand Caillou route, at 12:15 a.m. November 15. Funeral services were conducted from the residence to the Holy Family Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. Requiem High Mass November 18. Father Marcel Fourcade officiated at the rites. Mrs. Pellegrin, the wife of the late Louis Pellegrin, died on the same day of the week and day of the month as her husband. She was born on a plantation on Grand Caillou and has lived in Terrebonne parish all of her life. Her father was the late Ellis Luke and her mother the late Nastazia Fanguy. Mrs. Pellegrin, who had been feeling well and in good spirits, woke about 11 p.m. and summoned her daughter with the buzzer by her bed. She died in about and hour after receiving the Last Sacraments from Father Fourcade. She died peacefully as if going to sleep. She is survived by two daughters, Mr. Peter Falgout and Mrs. Sherdon Scott, both of Grand Caillou, and eight grandchildren. JUSTILLE PREJEAN Funeral services for Mrs. Justille Prejean, 77, were held from the Thibodaux Funeral home to St. Bridget's Catholic church in Schriever at 3 p.m. November 18.Interment was in the St. Joseph cemetery in Thibodaux. Mrs. Prejean, the former Manuella Plaisance, died Novmeber 17 at 1 p.m. at her residence in Schriever. She is survived by her widower, Justille Prejean, three sons, Edgar of New Iberia, Whitney of Thibodaux, and Lawrence of Schriever, three daughters, Mrs. Adam Benoit of Thibodaux, Mrs. H. R. Wyatt of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Alvin Bergeron who is living in Germany where her husband is stationed: 25 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. ============================================================================
