Raceland.

Raceland, resuming 7 a.m. Friday and continuing until funeral time. The funeral 
will be 9:30 a.m. Friday from the funeral home with religious services following 
, 10 a.m., at St. Hillary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews, La. Burial 
will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Harold P. and Joseph J. Arabie; a daughter, Mrs. 
Clarence Daigle; a brother, Norman Arabie; two sisters, Mrs. Allie Breaux and 
Mrs. Alida Pole; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rose Silva Lange Ayo, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Algiers, La 
died 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral was held 11 a.m. today from the Mothe 
Funeral Home in Algiers, La., with religious services following at Holy Name of 
Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Bartholomew Cemetery.

Survivors include three nieces and a nephew.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ferdinand Lange; her second 
husband, Abdon Ayo; her parents, Theresa DeRoche and Joseph Silva; and a sister, 
Mrs. Francis Daigle Matchett.

Mr. Sammons was the past state commander of the VFW Bergeron and Bonvillain Post 
__, a shriner, and a member of the Unity Lodge 267 F&AM and the New Orleans 
Consistory AASRM. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Ourso Sammons; two sons, Richard W. Sammons of 
Dallas, Texas; Leslie L. Sammons Jr. of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs. Helen 
Shanders of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Mary Ellen Earle of Silver Spring, Md.; a 
sister, Mrs. Grace McDonald of Marshall, Texas; 13 grandchildren and seven

Lee, Fla. For five years, died Friday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital 
in Gainsville, Fla., following a lengthy illness. A rosary is scheduled for 7 
p.m. today in the chapel of the T.J. Boggs Jr. and Sons Funeral Home, Madison, 
Fla.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 
Madison, Fla., with Rev. Charles (Boomsbell?), OMI, conducting services. Burial 
will be in the Stonewall Cemetery, Madison, County, Fla. 

A former resident of Bridgeport, Conn., Mr. Belinski owned and managed a 
country store in Lee, Fla. For five years. He was a member of the Lee Volunteer 
Fire Department, the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Madison, Fla., and 
___ of the Lee Community Club. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps World War II 
Veteran.

Works. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as it's 
superintendent of the Patterson Memorial Sunday School Class. He was also a 
Mason.

Sister Rita Ruth Avet, M.S.C., 54, died Friday night on Louisiana HWY 23 in 
Plaquemines Parish from the results of an auto accident. She was dead on 
arrival at Plaquemines Parish General Hospital in Port Sulphur. 

A scripture service for Sister Rita Ruth will be 4 p.m. today at Our Lady of 
the Holy Cross Chapel, 4123 Woodland Drive, Algiers, La. The Mass of the 
Resurrection will be conducted 4 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with entombment in 
the Community Mausoleum on the provincial house grounds. 

A native of New Orleans, Sister Rita Ruth, (Sister Mary Bruno), spent her 
childhood and early adult years in Plaquemines, where she attended St. John 
School. Upon her graduation from St. John in 1944, Sister Rita Ruth entered the 
Marianites of the Holy Cross and began her teaching career at St. Francis de 
Sales School. She pronounced her first vows in 1946, and taught at the Academy 
of the Immaculate Conception in Opelousas, Saints Peter and Paul, St. 
Christopher's in New Orleans, and St. John's in Plaquemines. 

During the summer, she taught religion in vacation schools in Port Sulphur and 
Buras. Since 1984, Sister Rita Ruth was involved in a second ministry of parish 
work at Holy Rosary Parish. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Wallace Avet and Bertha Rome.

Mrs. Hattie C. Smith, 79, a resident of 119 King Ave., died Saturday at her 
residence. The wake and funeral will be 8:30 p.m. until midnight today at the 
Resident Baptist Church with Rev. James Allen conducting services. Dismissal is 
scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday from the church, with burial following in Union 
Benevolent Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Elishah Smith; a daughter, Miss Mamie Louise Smith; a

LEVI THIBODAUX

Levi A. Thibodaux, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died 8 a.m. Saturday in 
New Orleans. He was 76.  Visitation will be at Thibodaux Funeral Home from 2 
p.m. today until 10:45 a.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 10:45 a.m. 
Monday at Thibodaux Funeral Home, followed by Religious services at 11 a.m. at 
St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. 

After his vocal cords were removed in 1968, Mr. Thibodaux was taught by speech 
therapists at Nicholls to speak by swallowing air and belching it up. His 
progress was so swift that when he finished the course, he was asked to help 
others in the same position. 

"I'm poor moneywise, but I've got everything else." He said in April. "If I can 
help someone, I'm happy."

Mr. Thibodaux is survived by his wife Lillian Z. Thibodaux; by three sons, 
Lloyd of Bayou Blue, Levi Jr. of Biloxi and Walter of Chackbay; and by six 
daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Joyce) Marcel, Mrs. Nolan (Heloise) Dubois, Mrs. 
Charles (Shirley) Theriot, Mrs. Chester (Lucille) Chiasson, all of Houma, Mrs. 
Gerald (Barbara) Breaux of Lockport, and Mrs. Raymond (Gail) Legendre of 
Chackbay.

He is also survived by two brothers, Joachin (Bill) of Thibodaux and Lawrence 
of Lockport; by two sisters, Mrs. Annie Mae Tastet of Lockport and Mrs. Nora 
Andras of Thibodaux; by 29 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thibodaux is preceded in death by his parents Joachin and Emma Rome 
Thibodaux; by three sisters; Mrs. Oleous (Annie) Landry, Mrs. Louise Ford and 
Mrs. Vivian Thibodaux; and by four brothers, Oliver, Junius, Eugene and Harry 
Thibodaux.

The wake and funeral will be from 8:30 p.m. until midnight today at the Greater 
St. Mathews Baptist Church with dismissal set for 11 a.m. Saturday from the 
church. Burial will be in the Crescent Farm Cemetery.

A surviving daughter, Leona Norma of Thibodaux was incorrected listed; and his 
wife, Alma McGuire Ross is not deceased. The couple was divorced.

MATHILDE CLEMENT

Mathilde Clement, 80, died 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will continue until 
funeral time at Falgout-McCleary Funeral Home. The funeral will be 10 a.m. 
Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. A 
rosary is scheduled 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Adrien Clement; a son, Roland Clement of 
Chauvin; three daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Anna) Trahan and Mrs. Essie (Albertine) 
Benoit of Chauvin, Mrs. Shirley Savoie of Houma; two brothers, Albert Scott of 
Chauvin, Kye Scott of Houma; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Dupre of Chauvin; 27 
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Scott and Valerine Trahan; two 
sons, Albert and Raymond Clement; a daughter Mrs. Garris (Evanola) Domangue.

Alfred J. Michel, 63, a native of Donner and a resident of Bayou Blue, died 
1:30 a.m. Thursday. Body was donated to medical science. Memorial services will 
be held at a later date, at a time to be announced.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Ledet Michel; a son, Warren J. Michel of 
Houma; a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Ann) Griffen of Thibodaux; two brothers, 
Clarence Michel Jr. of Chacahoula, Henry Michel of New Orleans; a sister, Mrs. 
Harold (Verna) Matherne of Bayou Dularge; and six grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Agnes Louviere Michel; two 
sons, Nolan and Wayne Michel; and a brother, Nolan Michel.

Eddie Nelson, 69, a native and resident of Klotzville, La., died 9:03 a.m. 
Tuesday at South Louisiana Medical Center. The wake and funeral will be 8:30 
p.m. today at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Paincourtville, La., with Rev. J.E. 
Thompson conducting services. Dismissal will be 11 a.m. Saturday from the 
church, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Nelson; five sons, Edwin J. Nelson 
of Houston, Texas, Eddie Jr., Louis E., Nelson and Emile c., Nelson of

Edward Marc Verret Jr., 79, a native and resident of Raceland, died Thursday at 
Raceland.

resuming 6 a.m. Saturday and continuing until funeral time. The funeral will be 
11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home with religious services following 11:30 
a.m. St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary
