SIDNEY J. ADAMS SR.

Sidney J. Adams Sr., 60, a native of Cut Off, La. and a resident of Lockport, 
La., died Friday in Houma.

Visitation will be after 11:30 am today at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport, 
La., and will continue until funeral time. The funeral will be 9:45 am from the 
funeral home with religious services following 10 am at Holy Savior Catholic 
Church in Lockport.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Guidry Adams;  six sons, Calbert, Norman, 
Robert, David, Russell, and Sidney Adams Jr.;  daughter, Mrs. Brian Folse Jr.;  
two brothers, Whitney and Taylor Adams;  four sisters, Mrs. Willie Naquin, Mrs. 
Willie Bernard, Mrs. Claude Danos, and Mrs. Gustave Naquin; 14 grandchildren 
and one great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Lucius Adams Jr.; and sister, Mrs. 
Adolph Ledet.

Mrs. Bertha Griffin Cantrelle, 67, a Lockport native and Larose resident, died 
1:45 am Saturday. Visitation will be from 10 am today until service time 
tomorrow at the Larose VFW Community Center.  Funeral services will be held at 
the center at 9:45 am tomorrow followed by interment at the Holy Rosary 
Catholic Church cemetery.

Suvivors include her husband, Lawrence (Vin) Cantrelle; four sons, Alvin, 
Murphy, and Curtis of Larose and Otis of Lockport; three daughters, Mrs. Nolan 
(Ella) Breaux, Mrs. Ray (Esther) Picou, and Mrs. Melvin (Pearl) Dufrene, all of 
Larose; five brothers, Washington Griffin of Chackbay, Claude Griffin of Arabi, 
Norman Griffin of Lockport, and Wilbert and Woodrow Griffin of Chalmette; a

Edison Carrway, 80, a resident of Naquin St. died 1:18 pm Thursday at South 
Louisiana Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Rainey Carrway;  two sons, Lionel Carrway 
from New Orleans and Edison Carrwayk Jr.;  two daughters, Mary Ann Davis of 
Houma and Justiane Carrway of Lafayette;  eight grandchildren and three great 
grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Hawes Carrway;

Murry George Savoie, 57, a native and resident of Houma, died 4:30 pm Thursday.

at St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue. Burial will follow in the church

Melodia M. Thibodaux, 80, of Raceland, died Friday. She is a native of Gheens, 
LA. 

Visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. today and from 6 p.m. until 
funeral time Monday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Services will be held 
at 12:30 p.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, followed by religious 
services at 1 p.m. at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Burial will 
follow the services at Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport.

She is survived by her children. Pierre, Lovencie, and Alidore Thibodaux, Mrs. 
Thomas Pitre, Mrs. Irvin Dufrnee; her brothers, Gillis, Paul and Roy Fonseca; 
her sisters, Mrs. Alexie Folse, Mrs. Alidore Loupe, Mrs. Charles LeBlanc, and 
Mrs. Roy Gaubert; 23 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alces Thibodaux and her brothers, 
Joseph, Jules and Telles Fonseca.

A 30 year old Chackbay man was killed Thursday night when the bicycle he was

Sister Ruth Mary Martinez M.S.C., 57, former sixth grade thacher and leader of 
junior and elementary 4-H activities at St. Francis Girls School, died 6:15 
p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Holy Cross Marianites Provencial House in New 
Orleans.

Religious services were held 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in 
New Orleans, with entombment following in Our Lady of Holy Cross Mausoleum.

A native of Plaquemine and a resident of New Orleans, sister Mary was known to 
her friends in Houma as Sister Mary (Casaria?). She came to St. Francis in 1962 
and aided in incorporating the school's 4-H system into the Terrebonne Parish 
4-H program. She also began the first basketball teams for junior girls at St. 
Francis. 

Prior to teaching at St. Francis, Sister Mary taught at the Immaculate 
Conception School in Opelousas, La.

A graduate of St. Joseph's High School in 1940, she entered the novitiate in 
New Orleans the following year at Holy Angels Academy. She pronounced her first 
vows after two years in the novitiate.

Survivors include her mother Ruth Mary Gautreaux Martinez; a brother, Richard 
S. Martinez Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Chester LaSage of

Raymond Joseph Bergeron, 49, an employee with Patterson Truck Lines, died 7:45 
p.m. Wednesday.

Friday and continuing until funeral time. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at 
St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

A native of Little Bayou Black a resident of Bayou Blue, Mr. Bergeron was 
employed with Paterson for 25 years, serving as a foreman at the time of his 
death.  An active member of the St. Louis Catholic Church on Bayou Blue, Mr. 
Bergeron was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Usher's Society, having 
been recently elected vice president of each. He was also an extra-ordinary 
minister of the Eucharist. 

Father Gerald Prinz, pastor at St. Louis, said, "Raymond Bergeron exemplified 
the humility and service of His Lord and Master. He was a wonderful father and 
husband. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother of Jesus and often led 
the rosary before Mass. His passing is a great loss to the congregation of St. 
Louis and the people of Bayou Blue and Father Prinz. Mr. Bergeron was a Korean 
War veteran in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Lea Earl Breaux Bergeron; a son, Terry Bergeron of 
Bayou Blue; two daughters, Thea and Tessie Bergeron of Bayou Blue; five 
brothers, Merlin and John Bergeron of Houma, Clarence Bergeron of Bayou Blue,
