Daigle LP&L Veteran Dead at 76 Louis Aucoin Louis Lawrence Aucoin, 76, a native and resident of Montegut, who worked almost half of the century in the electric utility business, died 9:45 p.m. Friday. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Falgout of Raceland; one sister, Lillian Aucoin of Montegut; and two nephews, Frances and Raymond Hebert of Montegut. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Elise Aucoin; and one sister, Ada Hebert. Aucoinâs career in the electric utility business began in 1921 when he went to work for the Lutcher Ice and Light Company. In 1923, he joined the Illinois Central Railroad Company in the signal department in Baton Rouge. There he was employed until 1930. He soon returned to Montegut and in 1931 he joined the Lockport Light and Power Company operating a small generating plant. In 1939 the property was purchased by the Louisiana Public Service Corporation and Aucoin became local manager. Aucoin became district manager when LP&L bought the property in 1942. Aucoin retired in May 1968 giving the company 47 years of service, the last 26 as the district manager of the Terrebonne Parish District in Houma. Prior to his retirement, Aucoin was very active in civic organizations in Terrebonne area. He was a member of the Houma Rotary Club, Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus No. 3013, the Holy Name Society and Montegut Lions Club. Related Story Cycle Wreck Injuries Kill Cut Off Man A 22-year-old Lafourche Parish man injured in a Jan. 11 motorcycle accident in Larose died Tuesday at West Jefferson Parish Hospital, according to the Jefferson Parish Coronerâs office. Carl Verdun, Route 1 Cut Off, was injured in an accident of Louisiana 308, when he struck a vehicle driven by Herbert A. Trosclair of Larose. A report by the Louisiana State Police stated that Trosclair was making a left turn off 308 and turned into the oncoming motorcycle. He was charged with making an improper left turn.
