Genevieve (Jennie) Faia, 76, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of New
Orleans, died 1:40 a.m. Monday.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until funeral time at the Metairie
Funeral Home of Lamana-Panno-Fallo, Inc., 1717 Veterans Blvd.

A requiem Mass is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with
burial following in the Cypress Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Faia; three daughters, Mrs. Rita Gervais, Mrs.
Santa Schuize, Mrs. Mamie Manne; four sisters, Mrs. Rosie Thibault, Miss Katie
Sparaneo, Mrs. Angelina Weinstein, Mrs. Mary Messina; eight grandchildren and
15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Faia; and her parents, Santa
Gemelli and August Sparaneo.

In the death notice of Rita Mae Reciusado appearing in Monday's Courier, the
family failed to relate the following additional information.

She is also survived by three sisters, Joyce Naquin, Virginia Malbrough and
Gloria Matrana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonois Babin and Louis J. Liner; two
daughters, Irene and Virginia; and a brother, Ernest Liner.

The day of the funeral has also been altered. The funeral will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with burial following in the church
cemetery.

Mrs. Leola Lapelle Duplantis, 89, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Survivors include two sons, Luc and Earl Duplantis of Houma; a daughter, Mrs.
Isaac Foret of Schriever; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 26
great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, August J. Duplantis; her parents,
Ernestine Portier and Eugene Lapelle; and two sons, Lee and Hugh Duplantis.

Ferdinand Joseph Somme, 62, a native of Des Allemands, La. and a resident of
725 Kenny St., died 10 p.m. Tuesday at the South Louisiana Medical Center.

resuming 8 a.m. Thursday and continuing until funeral time.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with burial
following in a Raceland cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Champagne Somme; a son, Don Somme, two
daughters, Deborah Bourgeois and Donna Marie Saadi; two brothers, Robert Somme

Miss Helen Bell Brown

Miss Helen Bell Brown, 66, died Sunday at Houma following a lengthy illness.

The wake and funeral will be 8 p.m. Friday at the First African Baptist Church,
2216 Third Street, with Dr. E.A. Henry conducting services.

Dismissal will be 9 a.m. Saturday from the church, with burial following in St.
James Baptist Church Cemetery in Gibson.

Miss Brown served as funeral director for the Alexander and Elum Undertaking
Co., Inc., for 42 years. She was an active member of the Crescent City Funeral
Directors and Embalmers Association, and secretary of the women's auxiliary of
the same group. She was also active in the Louisiana State Funeral Directors
and Embalmers Association and the National Funeral Directors and Morticians
Association, Inc.

Miss Brown was the church pianist for the First African Baptist Church for
several years.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Bernice Mack of Gibson; three nieces and three
nephews.

grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Young Marks; and his parents,
Joseph S. and Julia Bourg Marks.

Francis Ozeme Bonvillain, 60, an employee of Southdown Sugars for 40 years and
a World War II veteran, died 9 p.m. Thursday.

Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home, resuming 8 a.m.
Saturday and continuing until funeral time.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, with
burial following in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Hale Bonvillain; two sons, Michael and
Patrick Bonvillain; a daughter, Mrs. Leavence (Mary) Lirette, Jr.; three
brothers, Hewitt, Murphy and E.J. Bonvillain; five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Clavia)
Brunet, Mrs. Dennis (Effie) Boudreaux, Miss Cecile and Irene Bonvillain of

Evest Joseph Rogers, 78, a native of Lockport, and a resident of Houma, died

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with burial
following in Rogers Cemetery in Bayou Blue.

Mr. Rogers was a retired farmer.

Survivors include two sons, Elgin and Edgar Rogers; four daughters, Mrs.
Shirley Arceneaux, Mrs. Lawrence (Rita) Landry, Mrs. Chester (Delores) Kraemer,
Mrs. Henry (Doris) Songe; four brothers, Eusebe, Abel and Dennis Rogers of
Houma, Horace Rogers of Westwego, two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Caro and Mrs. Ida
Hymel; 32 grandchildren  and 52 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by by his wife, Anaise Martin Rogers; his parents,
Dennis Rogers and Ida Toupa; two brothers, Willie and Louis Rogers.

LP&L Veteran Dead at 76

Louis Aucoin

Louis Lawrence Aucoin, 76, a native and resident of Montegut, who worked almost
half of the century in the electric utility business, died 9:45 p.m. Friday.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Falgout of Raceland; one sister, Lillian
Aucoin of Montegut; and two nephews, Frances and Raymond Hebert of Montegut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Elise Aucoin; and one sister,
Ada Hebert.

Aucoinâs career in the electric utility business began in 1921 when he went to
work for the Lutcher Ice and Light Company. In 1923, he joined the Illinois
Central Railroad Company in the signal department in Baton Rouge. There he was
employed until 1930.

He soon returned to Montegut and in 1931 he joined the Lockport Light and Power
Company operating a small generating plant. In 1939 the property was purchased
by the Louisiana Public Service Corporation and Aucoin became local manager.
Aucoin became district manager when LP&L bought the property in 1942.

Aucoin retired in May 1968 giving the company 47 years of service, the last 26
as the district manager of the Terrebonne Parish District in Houma.

Prior to his retirement, Aucoin was very active in civic organizations in
Terrebonne area. He was a member of the Houma Rotary Club, Terrebonne Chamber
of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus No. 3013, the Holy Name Society and
Montegut Lions Club.

Visitation will be from 2-11 p.m. today at the Fire Station in Montegut.

Services will be noon Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut, with
burial following in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge

Ernest "Preacher" Batiste, (60?), a native of Gray, died 6 p.m. frid, at
Thibodaux General Hospital.

He was an employee of the Terrebonne Parish school system for 18 years.

Visitation will be 8 p.m. Sunday at Gertrude Geddies Willis-Terrebonne Funeral
Home until funeral time. Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, at the __ Wright
Church in Gray.

Survivors include his wife, May __ (Hand?); four sons, Lionel Baptiste of
Thibodaux; Ernest Jr., Charlie and Donald Baptist of New Orleans; five
daughters, Mrs. Ulysses (Ora) Legarde, Mrs. Clarence (Gloria) Daggs, Mrs. Louis
(Barbara) Trahan, and Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Brisco of Gray; Mrs. Alvin (Linda)

Dr. Percy Henri LeBlanc, 73, former Ascension Parish School Board president,
died 11:05 p.m. Saturday at his Donaldsonville residence following a lengthy
illness.

Church in Smoke Bend, La., with burial following in the church cemetery.

A native of Smoke Bend, La. And a resident of Donaldsonville, Dr. LeBlanc was a
practicing physician for 43 years. He served as head of the Ascension Parish
School Board and president of the Louisiana School Board Association. He was a
former Ascension Parish coroner and director for the State Bank and Trust Co.
Dr. LeBlanc was a member of the Knights of St. Gregory and was named
Donaldsonvilleâs 1979 Outstanding Citizen by the Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Aucoin LeBlanc, formerly of Bourg; a son,
Michael Percy LeBlanc; a brother, Conrad LeBlanc; six sisters, Beulah Rome,

A 22-year-old Lafourche Parish man injured in a Jan. 11 motorcycle accident in
Larose died Tuesday at West Jefferson Parish Hospital, according to the
Jefferson Parish Coronerâs office.

Carl Verdun, Route 1 Cut Off, was injured in an accident of Louisiana 308, when
he struck a vehicle driven by Herbert A. Trosclair of Larose. A report by the
Louisiana State Police stated that Trosclair was making a left turn off 308 and
turned into the oncoming motorcycle. He was charged with making an improper
left turn.

Verdun was sent to our Lady of the Sea Hospital in Galliano and later was
transferred to West Jefferson Parish Hospital in Marrero.

Harry Marshall

Harry Marshall, a native of Terrebonne Parish died at his residence Thursday at
age 80.

He was a former sugarcane farmer and a retired employee of Southdown Sugars.
Marshall was a deacon and also a licensed minister of the Residence Baptist
Church and a charter member of the Terrebonne Parish Men Dan Association. He
was the founder of the Community Social Aid Society and also a member of the
Women Uplift Club. He was also a member of the Blaine C. Clay Lodge No. 14.

Wake services will begin today at 8:30 p.m. and last until Midnight at
Residence Baptist Church pastured by Rev. J.H. Thompson and Rev. James Allen.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. James Allen officiating.
Interment will be in Union Benevolent Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie J. Marshall; one daughter, Rosemary Martin;

Malvina Keller

Malvina Steib Keller, 86, a native and resident of Vacherie, La., died 9 a.m.
Tuesday.

The funeral was held 9 a.m. today and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in
Vacherie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph and Julius Keller of Vacherie, Paul B.
Keller of Sacramento, Calif.; five daughters, Dorothy Leaurent and Rita Jones
of Vacherie, Dora Chopin of Marrero, Genevieve Magee of Bogalusa, La., Marie
Harris of Houma; a brother, Baldwin Steib of Vacherie; a sister, Almonia
Roussell of Vacherie; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-
great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, B. Keller.

Murphy P. Moley

Murphy P. Moley, 60, died 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 11 p.m. today at Landry Funeral Home, Thibodaux,
resuming 8 a.m. Friday and continuing until funeral time.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Funeral Home with religious
services following 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will be in the
church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Blanchard Moley; a daughter, Theresa Moley;
two brothers, Anthony and Victor Moley.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Samuel Moley. Landry
Funeral Home,  Thibodaux, is handling arrangements.
