Wilson T. Arceneaux Jr., a resident of Westwego, died 10 a.m. Saturday. The 
funeral was held 8:45 a.m. today from the Westside Funeral Home in Marrero, 
with religious services following at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic church 
in Westwego. Burial was in the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Larose.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta Theriot Arceneaux; two daughters, Mrs. Iris 
Trahan and Mrs. Myra Marmillion; a brother, Elfage Arceneaux; and a sister, 
Mrs. Bernice Plaisance.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson T. Arceneaux and Mrs. Lucie 
Chiasson; and a sister, Mrs. Gertie Champagne.

Marguerite Cash Heriard, 62, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died 6:20 
a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center, Baton Rouge. The funeral 
was held 1 p.m. today at Landry Funeral Home, Labadieville, with religious 
services following the Baptist Mission Church, Labadieville.  Burial was in the 
Garden of Memories Cemetery, Gray.

Survivors include a son, Gordon McGuffin; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Nancy) 
Mire; and six grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Dick McGuffin; her second 
husband, O'Neil Heriard; and a son, Micheal McGuffin.

Miss Ernestine Maria Melancon, 79, a native of Assumption Parish and a resident 
of Thibodaux, died Saturday at Thibodaux. The funeral was held 9:45 a.m. today 
from the Thibodaux Funeral Home, Thibodaux, with religious services following, 
10 a.m. at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral.  Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Survivors include two brothers, Ursin Jr. and Paul Melancon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ursin and Alzina Guillot Melancon; 
four brothers, Richard, Charles, Arthur and Morris Melancon; and a sister, Mrs. 
Linda Leblanc.

following, 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Golden Meadow.  Burial will be

Orleans and the William D. White Lodge No. 4_2 F&AM of Gretna.

Chapel, resuming 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and continuing until dismissal time. 
Dismissal will be 10 a.m. Tuesday from the chapel with Jehovah Witness leaders

Andrew (Buddy) Deese, 82, a native of Coila, Miss. And a resident of Panama 
City, Florida since 1972, died the afternoon of Sept. 3 at his residence. 
Services were held 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at Galilean Baptist Tabernacle in Panama City 
with the Rev. Johnny Kennington and Russell  Ward conducting services. Burial 
was in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Panama City. Born in Coila, Miss., Mr. 
Deese spent his young years in Collinston, La. prior to his moving to Houma in 
1938. He relocated to Panama City, Fla. in 1972. Mr. Deese 
was of the Baptist faith and was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Deese of Panama City, Fla.; five sons, 
Curtis and James Tipton of Houma, Douglas Tipton of San Diego, Cal., Robert 
Tipton of Apalachicola, Fla., Dennis Tipton of Port St. Joe, Fla; four

WILHELMINA HOOPER

Miss Wilhelmina Hooper, 85, a teacher who worked with the Indians of Dulac for 
26 years, died 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Religious services were scheduled for Monday 
at Rosedale Methodist Church, with burial following in the Rosedale Cemetery. 

A native of  Rosedale, La., Miss Hooper is a graduate of the Louisiana State 
Normal School in Natchitoches, where she received her teaching certificate. 
Mrs. Hooper was the first in this area to think of starting a school for 
Indians and the first to solicit help from the parish. She opened a private 
school for the Indians for 38 years ___was replaced by ___. In ___ the 
Methodist Church, which had been the com____ body for Miss Hooper's school ___ 
a two story ___ building about 1/4 of a mile from her residence and across Grand 
Caillou. This structure served as the school and community center for four 
years before the parish began the third (or Indian) school system here. She was 
also a retired Methodist missionary for 46 years and was a 
Courier Personality of the Week on Nov. 1, 19__.

Hooper of Rosedale, LA.

Rev. Ronald Walker O.M.I. conducting services. Burial was in Greenoaks Memorial 
Park.  Mr. Bourgeois was retired from Exxon Corporation and a member of 
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Tyler Bourgeois of Denham Springs; a 
son, Whitney Bourgeois of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Mrs. William (Barbara) Hart
