Benoit, a native and resident of Houma, was a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank and active in many local business and charitable organizations. He was a graduate of Terrebonne High School and the Soule Business College of New Orleans. Benoit was a pioneer in the oilfield machine industry and had patents and inventions relating to the business. He was a member of the rotary Club and Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce. He donated to the Boy Scouts of America and the Terrebonne Association of Retarded Citizens.
