Daigle RHODES, PRESTON ~Veteran~ Army World War II Preston Rhodes, a Bourg Storyteller, Civic volunteer and tour guide, died at noon Thur., Oct. 21, 1993. He was 66. Rhodes was one fo the best volunteers the Houma Terrebonne Tourist Commission had, Executive Director Betty Reed said today. He and his wfe played Mr and Mrs. Santa Claus each year in a takeoff on "Miracle on 34th Street". "He came in and did all kinds of things for us," Reed said. "If stickers needed sticking in tourist pamphlets, he would do it. Of course, the thing he liked to do most was talk to people". Rhodes used to bring local plants and other items he spotted to the Tourist Commission's Visitor's Center, Reed said. He would show them to the tourists. Rhodes quit his volunteer work at the Tourist Commission when he began his own tour business, Kajun Bayou Tours, a little more than a year ago, Reed said. Rhodes also did volunteer work at the Southdown Museum-Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society. "He was a wonderful man,' Reed said. Rhodes was a native of Houma; Visitation at 103 Amarilo Drive in Houma. SURVIVED by wife, Brunella H.
