TERREBONNE PARISH HOUMA, LA THE COURIER, JULY 2, 1998 DEBBIE BLANCHARD Debbie Trahan Blanchard, co-owner of the triple T shrimp processing plant in Chauvin , died Wednesday, July 1 1998, at 7:45 a.m. Blanchard, 38, died of a lung disease. She was known in Chauvin for the Christmas party at Little Caillou Gymnasium that she organized for needy children. "My sister wanted to give to the poor people, to give something back," s aid Blanchard's older sister, Janice T. Lirette. "So she put on this party." Blanchard started the party, the Triple T. Housewife Charity Function - Triple T is named for her three children; Toby, 19, Todd, 15, and Tessie, 11 - last year. Her family plans to continue it in her honor. The party supplied food and Christmas gifts to needy children picked by St. Joseph Catholic Church, where Blanchard was parishioner. Santa Claus even made an appearance. "She wanted this, and believe me, when my sister did something, she went all out," Lirette said. " It wasn't just for certain people, either. It was people of all races. She just wanted to give." Blanchard and her husband, Andrew, brought their shrimp processing plant three years ago. Before that, it was known as IST. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin and from noon to funeral time Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. He served in the U.S. Navy, had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and was the owner of Travis Imports, Inc. for 25 years.
