She is survived by her husband, James D. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Jules Benoit and Louise Bourg Benoit; five brothers, Lucious, Olen, Eddie, Nuel and Maurice Benoit; and one sister, Eunice Benoit Martin. She was a retired teacher and professor. She was a founder and charter member of France-Amerique de Lake Charles and served as its president, vice-president, secretary, program chairman and executive committee chairman. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Gamma Chapter, honorary teachers' fraternity, and served as its vice president and on the social committee. She was a member of Newcomb Alumni Association, LSU Alumni Association, McNeese Alumni Association, National Association of Retired Teachers, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, Imperial Calcasieu Museum and Lake Charles Preservation Society. She was a member, interpreter and translator for the Council for International Concerns and a member and patron of the Lake Charles Symphony Auxiliary. Wright High School in New Orleans; Terrebonne High School in Houma; Newcomb College of Tulane University, where she received a bachelor's degree in French; Louisiana State University, where she received a master's degree in French; La Sorbonne, University of Paris, France, where she received a Diplome de Professeur de Francais.
