Darrell James Ellender Sr., 57, a native and resident of Houma, died at 7:42 
a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004.

Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time 
Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious services will be at 10 a.m. 
Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales 
Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Courteaux Ellender of Houma; his father, 
Lee P. Ellender of Houma; two sons, Darrell J. Ellender Jr. and wife, Stacey, 
of Pointe-aux-Chenes, and Lee D. Ellender of Houma; two daughters, Darlene 
Purdy and husband, Sidney, of Meridian, Miss., and Belinda Ellender Randolph of 
Houma; one brother, Wayne T. Ellender of Houma; 10 sisters, Carol A. Ellender, 
Theresa Redmond and husband, Glenn, Wanda Rogers of Houma, Mary Ellender of 
Bayou DuLarge, Patricia Seago of Vivian, Bonnie Welch and husband, Keith, of 
Chauvin, Paula Hebert and husband, Jules Jr., of Houma, Winnie Falgout and 
husband, Barry, of Gray, Laraine Giroir and husband, Craig, of Schriever, and 
Christine A. Ellender of Houma; five grandchildren, Jocelyn Randolph, Shelby 
Purdy, Suzette Purdy, Jacob Randolph and Beau J. Ellender.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Waguespack Ellender; and one 
brother, Barry F. Ellender.

He was a salesman with NAPA.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
