Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at New St. Matthews Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Crescent Farm Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Patricia W. Lawson; eight sons, Sherman Lawson and wife, Bertha Helen, Robert Lawson and wife, Shirley, Isiah Lawson and wife, Jermon, Zilton Lawson and wife, Andrea, Kevin Johnson and wife, Leslie, Thomas Joseph and wife, Barbara, and Jerome and John Scott; seven daughters, Betty McGuire and husband, Claud, Patronella Lawson and husband, Alton, Shelvin Lawson, Vickie Lawson, Regina Harris and husband, Darrin, Monique Williams and Nicole Matthews and husband, Anthony; two brothers, Eugene McGuire and wife, Leola, and Jimmy Lawson; 62 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evaline Lawson; his parents, Elisha Lawson and Olivia McGuire; three sons, Elisha III, Clarence and Earl Lawson; and one daughter, Edna Lawson. He was a machine operator for Terrebonne Consolidated Government and was a member of New St. Matthews Baptist Church.
