Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel. Religious services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sherwin Thomas of Houma; one son, Richard Alan Thomas and wife, Verna, of Gray; one daughter, Janine Thomas Boudreaux and husband, Donald, of Schriever; one brother, Rayford Thomas and wife, Marilyn, of Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Dixie Thomas Mills of Haynesville; one brother- in-law, Ronald "Buddy" Modisette of Haynesville; seven grandchildren, Denise Dufrene, Robert A. Thomas, Bridget Thomas Parker, Candice Ganaway, Corey Boudreaux, Brandon Thomas and Brandi Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Austin Ganaway, Blake Dufrene, Philip Parker and Mackenzie Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sims Thomas and Denver Opal Meeks Thomas; and one son, Barry Dean Thomas. He was retired transportation manager of Placid Oil Company with 24 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of First United Methodist Church. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
