Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to wake time Friday and from noon to funeral time Saturday at Old Fountain Missionary Baptist Church in Thibodaux. Wake service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Religious services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Spot of Thibodaux; seven daughters, Edie S. Cooks, Agnes S. Randall and Gloria Spot, all of New Orleans, Melissa Fletcher, Kim Fletcher, Barbara Wright and Shirley Jones, all of Thibodaux and Jeanine S. Burton of Gray; six sons, James Spot of Savern, Md., Willie and Joseph Spot III of New Orleans, Jerome and Oliver Spot and Ernest Duncan Jr., all of Thibodaux; one brother, Junius Mills of Napoleonville; 79 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Agnes Shepherd Spot; three sons, Michael, Alex and Thomas Spot; five sisters, Mary Matthews, Theresa Spot, Lucille Spot, Josephine Spot and Rosalie Deboue. He was a member of Old Fountain Missionary Baptist Church, served on the Deacon Board for 65 years and was a member of the Union Southern Baptist Association.
