The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= August 25. 2004 12:54PM Van Wolfe Sr. [Photo] Van "Penna" Wolfe Sr., 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 7:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Beautiful Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in New Rising Sun Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons, Van Wolfe Jr., Preston Wolfe and Bernard Wolfe; two daughters, Lois and Paula Wolfe; one brother, Square Wolfe Jr.; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosebell White Wolfe; his parents, Square and Sarah Picou Wolfe; two sons, Robert and Anthony Wolfe; six brothers, Willie, Williams, Joseph, Claudell, Jimmie Sr. and Clarence; and two sisters, Mildred Wolfe Austin and Mary Wolfe Draper. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and was a self-employed plumber. He was in the U.S. Army from May 1942 to January 1946 as a heavy machine gunner 605. His battles were in Bismarch Archipelago, New Guinea and Northern Solomons. He received an American Theater campaign medal, Asiatic Pacific campaign medal with 3 bronze stars, good conduct medal of World War II and Victory medal. He was a member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church. Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
