The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= August 04. 2004 12:33PM Walter Ziegler [Photo] Walter "Bootie" Ziegler, 67, a native of New Orleans and resident of Chauvin, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004. Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the hall. He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Phyllis Pellegrin Picou; four stepsons, Timmy, Duane and Ryan Picou and Kenneth Ortiz; one daughter, Patricia Ziegler Guillot and husband, Sheldon; one stepdaughter, Jessie Lynn Picou Lyons; two brothers, Joe and Edward Ziegler; one sister, Lillian Marcus; five grandchildren, Scott P. and Shanna Guillot, Tessie Lynn and Nicholas Lecompte and Katrina Picou; one great-grandchild, Lexie Lecompte; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Ziegler; his parents, Sonthen Ziegler and Emily Cousin Ziegler; and numerous brothers and sisters. He was self-employed/owner of Zig-Zag Truck Body Repair of Jefferson and was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing and was Catholic. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
