Cheramie, 83, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano. He is survived by his wife, Virginia C. Cheramie; three daughters, Dianna C. Williams, Lou Ann C. Gaspard and Hazel C. Gaspard; three brothers, Houston, Duroc and Ronald Cheramie; one sister, Ella Mae C. Alario; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duard and Aza Hebert Cheramie; one daughter, Helen C. Dugas; and two brothers, Claudet and Eule Cheramie. He was a retired boat captain and cattleman and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
