Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Gregory Bargarigo Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his special friend, June Deroche of Houma; one son, Barry John Brien and wife, Linda Brien of Gretna; two daughters, Connie Brien Sawyer of The Woodlands, Texas, and Jean Brien Weiss and husband, Tim Weiss of Laguna Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Betsy Brien, David Brien, Melissa Newbould, Robert Roper, Matt Weiss, Cassidy Weiss and Rebecca Sawyer; and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Brien Sr. and Alfrida Chauvin Brien; five brothers, Shelby, Ferris, John L., Earl and Charles Brien; and two sisters, Iona Picou and Iris Martin. He was a retired production foreman with Texaco of 35 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3700 and a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
