The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= September 01. 2004 12:00AM George Douglas [Photo] George "Son" Edward Douglas, 77, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at New Rising Sun Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Gray Douglas; one son, Bruce Wayne Douglas; five brothers, Freddie Douglas II and wife, Veraniece, Benny Douglas, Gerald Douglas and wife, Delores, Donald Douglas and wife, Juanita, and Bobby Douglas and wife, Leischa; four sisters, Annie B. Doss of Magnolia, Ark., Marguerite D. Pitts, Carolyn D. Washington and husband, Fredrick, and Helen Marie Douglas; and one sister-in-law, Heloise H. Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Helen Willis Douglas; one brother, Nolan Douglas; one brother-in-law, Elmer Doss; and one nephew, Nolan Douglas Jr. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran, having served three tours of duty, two in Germany and one in Vietnam. He was drafted at age 18 and retired after 25 years, eight months and four days. After retiring, he owned and operated an auto body and paint shop. His medals and citations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, the World War II Victor Medal, the Korean Service Medal and a certification of appreciation from President Richard Nixon, bearing his signature and official seal. He was a member of New Rising Sun Baptist Church. Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
