Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. A Methodist service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Welsh First United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall in Welsh, with interment following at Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh. She is survived by her only child, a daughter, JoAnna Lea Brauninger Burrow and her husband, Bobby W. Burrow; and two grandchildren, JoLynn D. Burrow and Jan Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Edgar Hurlbut and JoAnna Lee Hebert Hurlbut; her husband, Sidney Lea Brauninger; and her brother, Virgil Floyd Hurlbut. Throughout her life, she was an active member of society in many areas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Houma. She was an AARP Chapter organizer and president; a Terrebonne Parish Polling Commissioner; a Methodist church member and steward in Pennsylvania, Texas and Louisiana; a clothing store manager and buyer in Pennsylvania and Louisiana; a Brownie and Girl Scout leader; a fire department volunteer and a school volunteer in Pennsylvania; and a teacher, among others. She was one of the very few women in her era to obtain a college education. Furthermore, she was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We love her. She will be greatly missed by all. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
