Turner Jr., 75, a native of Morgan City and resident of New Orleans, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to funeral time today at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home in New Orleans. Religious services will be at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, with private burial. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Cox Turner of New Orleans; two daughters, Linda Brown and husband, Herman, of Houston and Debra Dave and husband, Simon, of New Orleans; one son, Joseph Alexander Turner III of New Orleans; one sister, Gloria Wallis and husband, Lloyd Sr. of Houma; two brothers, Roland A. Turner Sr. and wife, Barbara, of Morgan City and Donald G. Turner of Shreveport; two sisters-in-law, Daisy Cox Jones of Houston and Gloria Brown of New Orleans; three cousins, Roosevelt Brooks of Rochester, N.Y., Ananias Brooks Jr. of Springfield, Va., and Izola Pharr Gautreaux of New Orleans; three granddaughters, Keffrelyn Brown, Danaeha Dave and Cheri Hamilton; and one great- granddaughter, Jaelyn Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Hilda Pharr Turner; one cousin, Allen Brooks; and one brother-in-law, Eugene Cox Jr. He was a retired printer and was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
