Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hebert Whipple of Bourg; two sons, Christopher M. Whipple and wife, Mary Ann Louviere Whipple, of Broussard and Stuart J. Whipple of Athens, Ga.; one daughter, Melanie M. Whipple of Bourg; one brother, Marcel Whipple of Bourg; two sisters, Goldie W. Jouandot of Harahan and Mazie W. McCullough of Houma; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark McCool Whipple and Clothilde Walker Whipple; two brothers, Max and Leonard Whipple; and one sister, Muriel W. Bergeron. He was a retired consulting petroleum geologist for 44 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the New Orleans Geological Society and Petroleum Club of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church.
