Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home in New Orleans. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will be from noon to funeral service Wednesday at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Gibson. Another funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice C. Thomas; one son, William Thomas Jr.; two stepsons, Charles A. Walker and Ronald Walker of Fayette, Miss.; two daughters, Hilda Thomas and Brenda Thomas Nunnery; one stepdaughter, Linda Walker Turner; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Thomas and Alma Thomas; his grandparents, Willie and Louise Seymore; and one sister, Eula Thomas. He was a retired escort at Baptist Hospital and Radiology Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was Baptist.
