Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today at Hixon Funeral Home in Creole, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Cameron, with interment in the church mausoleum. He is survived by his wife, Velma Rogers Picou; two daughters, Brenda and Ramona of Cameron; two sons, Hayes of Grand Chenier and Ronnie Dean of Grand Lake; one brother, Floyd Picou Sr. of Houma; one sister, Joyce Bonvillion of Gray; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Xavier and Edna Picou; two sisters, Lois LeFort and Marie Watkins; one brother, Jean Picou Sr., and numerous of nieces and nephews. He was a tugboat captain for 18 years, then became owner and operator of Coastal Shell Company and later of Coastal Foods and Savers Grocery of Cameron. He later worked for Pat's Restaurant and Kajon Foods before retiring. He was a World War II veteran and parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was a fourth-degree member of Monsignor Cramers Assembly No. 320, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10019, served as Commander of American Legion Post 176 in Creole, and served as president of the Cameron Council on Aging.
