Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow at a later date. He is survived by one daughter, Sarah Redlich of St. Amant; his mother, Joan Thyre of Baton Rouge; his father and stepmother, Ted and Ann Redlich; one brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Vonn Redlich; two nieces, Allison and Lili Redlich; and one nephew, Jack Redlich. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Rosemary Gerstenschlager; and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Floris Redlich. He was employed as a Harley Davidson mechanic for South Coast Chopper where he was able to combine his great passion for Harley Davidson Motorcycles with his aptitude as a mechanic and a salesman. He was previously employed by Cenac Towing as a towboat pilot. A big bear of a man with a sense of humor and generosity to match, our sweet, beloved Matt departed this world at his home in Houma. He was a true friend and never met a stranger. He struggled mightily but never gave up the fight, and for this we will always respect and love him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bridge House, Bull Run Road, Houma, LA 70360. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
