Visitation will from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at the KC Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by one brother, Shelly Martin, 95, of Chauvin; his children, Rosaline Martin Wingerter of Houma, Linda Nell Martin Rodrigue of Houma, Merlin James Martin and Sterling Paul Martin of Chauvin, Cynthia Martin Bourg of Houma, Pamela Martin of Grand Isle and Rhonda Martin Dunn of Thibodaux; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and 18 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Authement Martin; his parents, Louis Joseph Martin and Virginia Chauvin Martin; one daughter, Barbara Ann Martin; one grandchild, Dustin Trevor Hebert; and five brothers, Eddie, Israel, Calvin, David and Charlie Martin; and three sisters, Felicia Martin Lapeyrouse, Mae Martin Hebert and Nora Martin. He was a father and friend to all his children and grandchildren. He was a crew boat owner/operator for the Texas Company, a commercial fisherman and fur trapper. He worked to build the historic Andrew Higgins landing crafts in New Orleans during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
