The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= December 20. 2004 12:00AM Alma Bourgeois Alma Cancienne Bourgeois, 89, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died at 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Landry's Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Richard "Dickie" Bourgeois and Martin Bourgeois, both of Thibodaux; three daughters, Chris Bourgeois Credeur of Opelousas, Claire Bourgeois Grubbs of Thibodaux and Marie Bourgeois Ward of New Orleans; one brother, Phillip Cancienne of Thibodaux; two sisters, Odette Naquin of Thibodaux and Elsie Behrhorst of Lafayette; and four grandchildren, John Credeur, Adam Credeur, Richard Hernandez and Caroline Bourgeois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Bourgeois; and her parents, Phillip J. Cancienne and Annette Kerne Cancienne. She was one of the very first State of Louisiana Social Workers during the early 1930s. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
