The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= December 02. 2004 12:39PM Dorothy Maryland [Photo] Dorothy Mae Parfaite Maryland, 69, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 7:02 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by three sons, Andre' Parfaite, Richard Maryland Jr. and Earl F. Maryland of Houma; three daughters, Theresa Simone Parfaite Bryant and husband, James, of Nashville, Tenn., Cheryl Maryland and Katina Maryland of Houma; one stepdaughter, Catherine Aycock of Seattle; one brother, McKinley Parfaite of New Orleans; five sisters, Delores P. Williams of New Orleans, Edith P. Johnson and husband, Gerald, Gloria P. Huddleston and husband, David, of Rochester, N.Y., Lula P. Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Diane LaGarde and husband, Louis, of Houma; and 20 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Maryland Sr.; her parents, McKinley "King Cole" Parfaite and Isabelle Carter Smith; and one sister, Marion Parfaite. She was a homemaker and was Baptist. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Breast Cancer Society.
