Lindley, 86, a native of Houston and resident of Schriever, died at home at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004. Mass will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Wayne Lindley; four sons, Joseph R. Lindley Jr. of Abita Springs, Robert A. Lindley of Thibodaux, Thomas M. Lindley of Spring, Texas, and Jeff D. Lindley of Thibodaux; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Ermer of Bartlett, Tenn., and Marilyn L. Touchet of Cordova, Tenn.; one sister, Catherine McCormack; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Ruth Rennyson Lindley and Glea Dawson Lindley; two brothe,r Glea Dawson Lindley Jr. and William Spence Lindley. He was a graduate of Reagan High School in Houston, lettering in ice hockey and serving as team co-captain with his twin brother, Bill. He worked for several major paper mill corporations in various management positions including Ennis Business Forms, Inc. in Ennis, Texas, and Computer Paper Corp. in Dallas. In 1967, he began work with Holiday Press Inc. in Memphis as vice president of materials management. In 1970, he moved to Louisiana as director of publishing for Valentine Pulp and Paper Corp. in Lockport. In April 1976, he established R&S Recycling and was owner and president for 10 years. During his years in Ennis, he served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1353 Bluebonnet district. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on Sept. 24, 1945. He served as fire control third class in the West Pacific on the DE-20 USS LE Hardy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Elementary School, E.D.
